Ghibli Park Tickets & Money 2026 — You Can't Buy at the Gate, and There's No Exchange Nearby

Money on site — there is no exchange

This is the part our data speaks to directly. There is not one currency-exchange location within 15 km of Ghibli Park — we checked our own store database, and Nagakute city has zero listings.

By contrast, the Nagoya Station and Sakae areas have 14 exchange locations. Sort your yen out in Nagoya first.

If you do run short on site, the practical fallback is withdrawing from a Seven Bank ATM with your overseas card (how it works). There's a fee, but the rate beats any exchange machine by a wide margin.

Getting there — IC cards are fine

The nearest station is Ai-Chikyuhaku-Kinen-Koen on the Linimo (Aichi Rapid Transit Tobu Kyuryo Line), reached by transferring at Fujigaoka on the subway Higashiyama line.

Step off the train and the park's entrance plaza is right there.

The Linimo accepts all 10 major Japanese IC cards: Suica, PASMO, ICOCA, manaca, TOICA, PiTaPa, Kitaca, Hayakaken, nimoca and SUGOCA. If you're already carrying a Suica or PASMO, just tap in. Every station has machines for topping up.

Note that fares are being revised from 1 September 2026, so check the official site for the current amount before you ride.

Signage stops at Japanese and English

When our editorial team visited in July 2026, there were plenty of overseas visitors, but on-site signage runs in just two languages: Japanese and English. Chinese and Korean are essentially absent.

The directional posts around the grounds look like this: Japanese and English, nothing more. If you're travelling from a Chinese- or Korean-speaking country, plan to navigate by the English labels.

Large map boards like this one show how the facilities sit relative to toilets, coin lockers and shops. The fine print is mostly Japanese, so study the official map before you arrive and you won't get lost.

Which is exactly why preparation pays off:

• Lock in your ticket in advance — the no-gate-sales rule is the single biggest catch
• Keep a screenshot of which ticket you bought (different tickets admit you to different areas)
• Top up your IC card generously before you set off
• Get your cash in Nagoya

Q: Can I buy a ticket on the day, at the park? A: No. The official site states that tickets cannot be purchased in any area of Ghibli Park. A few Valley of Witches buildings sell same-day admission, but those are add-ons for people who already hold a park ticket.

Q: Can I pay with a foreign credit card? A: The official channels for overseas visitors are Lawson Ticket and Klook. Klook is built for international travellers, so foreign-issued cards go through more smoothly.

Q: Can I exchange money near the park? A: Assume not. Our database shows no exchange locations within 15 km. Handle it in Nagoya.
